Austria’s magnificent cultural heritage is the subject of two upcoming trips from the Cultural Travel Company.
In the first, we visit Salzburg for the Mozartwoche festival. This annual celebration of Mozart’s music attracts many of the best interpreters of his work, and we add extra depth to the experience with lectures and guided walks. Salzburg’s ensemble of Baroque palaces and churches is one of the finest in Europe: following Mozart’s footsteps through its cobbled streets – with concerts by Daniel Barenboim and the Vienna Philharmonic to look forward to – is quite a thrill.
Meanwhile, our second trip explores Austria’s capital, as we consider the impact of the Secession in both Vienna and Budapest. Here, the focus is on the city’s golden age of art and architecture, which reached new heights between 1897 and 1914.
